Children love bread. Fact! So a change in the type of bread they eat is great way of exposing them to different varieties, textures, tastes and smells.
Get their senses working whilst joining in and making these super easy and quick ‘Dinky dough rolls’. So many learning experiences.
500 g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
310 ml milk (or water with a spoon of oil or melted butter)
Place all the ingredients into a bowl and mix. I do this with my hands. You could add cheese, herbs and spices at this point also. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead. Doesn’t have to be too well kneaded but enough to make the dough stretchy.
On a baking tray, sprinkle with flour and you can either keep the dough whole or break into small rolls.
If you decide to make a loaf flatten the dough slightly and score the top. It will rise in the oven.
Small dough rolls will take less time to bake so keep an eye on them.
A loaf will take approximately 35 mins and the rolls approximately 15
